THERAPEUTIC APPROACH

My primary, foundational approach to therapy comes from Existential-Humanism. This approach can be summarized by a poster on my office wall that simply says, “You’re not okay, I’m not okay, and that’s okay.”

Life is hard. Relationships are hard. For all of us. But you already know this. It’s a miracle we’ve all made it this far without imploding. Existential-Humanism embodies this truth.

I’m not the type of therapist that’s here to pathologize you or how you’ve coped with life's difficulties. You did it! You made it here! And that’s something.

I don’t believe you’re broken or crazy or messed-up or irredeemable. You’re patterned. And you can change whatever patterns you want to. It does take effort. Maybe a lot of effort. And I’m here to show you how. ...With a whole lot of solidarity, patience, warmth, humor, and support.
